No, it is part of the black market economy that already exsists.

If you make something harmless illegal, you still create real criminals. And what's the point in that? You still have to put those criminals in jail, and spend money to deal with them.

Legalize it and regulate it, and you can get rid of the pimps, the crime, the violence, and the diseases. Win.

To be honest, I've never had much of an opinion on this subject. That said, I recently read a blog post that had a lot of good points which got me thinking maybe our governments should take another look at prostitution and decide if it should really be illegal. http://tellitlikeitis-think-4-yourself.blogspot.com/2009/04/should-we-legalize-prostitution.html
